"Pfc. Cody Moosman of Preston, Idaho, was killed July 3 in Afghanistan.
"An Idaho soldier was killed in Afghanistan July 3, when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire. Pfc. Cody Moosman, 24, of Preston, was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division out of Fort Riley, Kan. His battalion was stationed in Gayan Alward Mandi, Afghanistan, as part of Operation Enduring Freedom when they were attacked.
"Moosman's family released a statement, saying that the active-duty U.S. Army soldier had always wanted to be in the Army and joined the service in 2010.
""He loved the idea of protecting his fellow citizens. Our family enjoyed watching him stand up for America," read a family statement. "Cody loved the outdoors, and hunting and fishing were his passion. He leaves behind his mother and father, two brothers and two sisters, his grandparents and his nieces and nephews, who all very much adored him. We loved him, and we will miss him very much."
Kenneth Stepp salutes PFC Cody Moosman of Preston, Idaho, killed July 3 in Afghanistan. It is time to celebrate Independence Day 2012 by bringing our troops home from the wars of the Middle East. Alexander the Great conquered Afghanistan. The British Empire twice invaded Afghanistan and was expelled. The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan and, after a bloody war, was expelled. The United States should leave Afghanistan gracefully now. The Afghans do not wish to adopt American Culture or American Democracy. It is time to get out now.
